I’m getting an increasing number of calls from my customers saying they have just received a call from “Microsoft”, informing them that their computer is infected and is a security risk. They say that they need to make some checks on the computer, or they will have to close the computer down. They sound very professional and scary. THIS IS A TOTAL AND UTTER SCAM. Microsoft (or any other major corporation) is NEVER going to call you to say that there is a problem with your computer. I’ve also heard of people receiving messages when they log onto Skype, saying there is a security problem with their computer. However some people (no names mentioned to protect the gullible) have actually fallen for this, and allowed these con artists to take over control of their computer. They then make changes to your computer, which gives them unlimited access to your system, and can therefore see everything you do, including financial transactions, private emails etc, as well as being able to plant other nasties inside your PC. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you ever allow someone you don’t know to get you to make changes to your computer. I no you’ll probably say ‘I’d never fall for that’ but you would be surprised how many do. If you receive a call from any of these people, you only need to say two words to them… the second on is OFF! Autumn tune up and service
With the nights drawing in, autumn is around the corner. When was the last time your computer had a full tune up and service? Like a car, your PC or laptop does need a full service at least once a year, to ensure it is running to the best of its ability. It also needs to be clear of any malware or virus and safe from hackers who try to get into your computer. For a fixed fee, I’ll come over and give your PC a full service and tune up, and make sure your system is fully backed up, in case of disaster striking (which I have at least one customer a month whose computer dies suddenly). I’ll also make sure you’re fully protected from any nasties. Please call or email me to fix a convenient time. Unless it has been serviced in the last 6 months or less, DO NOT PUT THIS OFF, PLEASE. Windows 8
Before the end of the year, Microsoft will be releasing the latest operating system, Windows 8. I haven’t seen it in action yet, but I have seen plenty of previews, and as the Americans say, it looks ‘Awesome’ It’s taken all the best features from Windows 7 and redesigned the whole interface, from the opening desktop screen, to the touch screen features. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll let you know more as soon as I have it, but if you wish to see the official pre launch video, click on the link below. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/release-preview Gift Vouchers
